The question is often asked: Why can’t my candle burn a nice flat wax pool? In fact, how to burn incense candles is very exquisite, will burn not only can make incense candles good-looking, but also effectively prolong the burning time.
1. First burn is critical!
If you want to burn a scented candle, be sure to wait until the surface of the candle has completely melted to form a flat wax pool before extinguishing it! Wax has a memory. If you put out the candle before burning the entire wax pool the first time, it will not burn out again each time it reaches the place where it first burned out. Over time, a deep hole will be formed.
2. Trim the wick before each burn
Trim the wick every time before lighting the candle, leaving 5mm or so in length.
If the wick is too long, the candle will wear out quickly. Trim it to make the candle last longer. Moreover, if not trimmed, it is easy to have black smoke, and the wall of the candle cup is easy to be blackened.
But why is it recommended to trim before burning, rather than after each burn? If you trim the wick before the candle is completely set, it will be a tragedy if the charcoal accumulated at the top of the wick falls into the wax pool.
3. Straighten the wick after each burn
Women who have burned scented candles may have noticed that if the wick is bent to one side, the candle on the other side burns faster, while the candle on the other side doesn’t burn down smoothly.
Therefore, after each burn, before the candle completely melts, it is recommended to straighten the wick and make sure it is in the center of the wax pool.
5. Each burn should not exceed 3 hours
Do not burn scented candles for more than 3 hours at a time. After 3 hours, the candle cup can overheat, mushroom heads, black smoke and other problems.
6. Close the lid when it’s not burning
When scented candles are not burning, it is best to cover them well. If you leave your mouth open outside, it’s not only easy to dust, but the bigger problem is that the fragrance can be lost easily.
If you don’t want to spend money on a lid, you can keep the candle box and put the candle back in a cool, dry cabinet when it’s not in use.
